The journal is intended for translators, interpreters, editors, language and literature specialists, translation studies students, academics, as well as all readers and professionals who care about the quality of translation in Slovakia. It is especially aimed at those interested in the critique of translations of specialized, literary, and audiovisual texts, in the position of the translator in society, and in discussions concerning the quality of translations and the conditions under which they are produced.
When the journal Translation Criticism was established, there was no journal in Slovakia dedicated to translation criticism. Its goal was to fill a gap in the Slovak translation landscape. Since 2013, the journal has been providing a space for publishing research and insights in the field of translation criticism of specialized, literary, and audiovisual texts for participants in the translation process and for everyone who is concerned about the quality of translation in Slovakia. The journal aims to draw greater attention to issues of translation quality, contribute to improving the social visibility of translators and the status of the translation profession, and initiate broad discussion about translation, its quality, and the conditions in which it is produced, without limiting translation criticism solely to the negative aspects of the translation process.

Licence
Articles published in the journal Translation Criticism are made available in open access under the Creative Commons CC BY-NC license. Authors retain their copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive right to publish and distribute the work. The use, distribution, and adaptation of published articles are permitted provided that proper attribution is given to the author and the source. Open Access Policy
The journal Translation Criticism provides immediate open access to all published articles without any embargo period. All published articles are freely available to both individual users and institutions. No fees are charged for reading or accessing the content. The journal aims to support international scholarly communication and the development of linguistic research through open access to academic findings.
Copyrights
Authors retain copyright to their works. By granting consent for publication, they provide the journal Translation Criticism with a non-exclusive license for the first publication of the article and for making it available in open access under the CC BY-NC license. Authors may archive their works in institutional and subject repositories, publish them on personal websites, or share them on academic platforms, while it is recommended to include a reference to the original publication. The journal reserves the right to edit accepted manuscripts.
Publication Fees
The journal Translation Criticism does not charge any fees related to manuscript submission, the peer-review process, or the processing and publication of the article itself. Published articles are not remunerated. Publication is free of charge for authors.

The journal Translation Criticism adheres to publication ethics principles in accordance with international standards (e.g. COPE - Committee on Publication Ethics) and promotes transparency and integrity in scholarly publishing. The journal follows a Code of Ethics.
